"Preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident took place after an altercation between the duo. They knew each other for four years and, prima facie, it appears to be an outcome of a disputed affair," Indore commissioner of police Harinarayanachari Mishra told TOI.
Later, assistant commissioner (crime) Arvind Tomar said that the injured woman has given a statement that there was a monetary dispute with the inspector regarding sale of an SUV.
Pawar was a native of Ujjain, and the woman ASI is a clerk in CCTNS Wing of Indore Police. Pawar was on leave and it's not known why he was in uniform and armed as well.
